Newborns need visual stimulation to help develop their eyesight, so here you’ll find a range of bright, visually engaging toys to attract their attention. Try a brightly coloured rattle to help them develop basic motor functions like gripping and shaking, or a vibrant mobile to stimulate their sight and mind. 

Between four and seven months, babies have improved vision and motor skills, and can track simple movement. At this age, children love soft, textured toys and things that make sounds. Try a soft ball, a cuddly companion or some baby books.

Once your child reaches eight to twelve months, you’ll want toys that they can interact with. Dolls and puppets, stackable blocks, push and pull toys, and things they can squeeze or manipulate to make noises will engage them and help them develop spatial cognition, understanding of relationships and motor skills. Moving toys they can follow by crawling or toys that encourage weight-bearing on legs as a precursor to walking, assist in the development of gross motor skills
